Are There Any Benefits In Taking Turmeric For Diabetes?

That talk of prevention is nothing new and the causes of diabetes are not within the scope of this short article, and many readers may already be well aware of them.

No, the real interest for me was in finding out if taking turmeric for diabetes had any positive results. Many studies have shown it to have numerous medicinal properties, not only with regard to diabetes.

The part of the herb that seems to be the most potent, health benefiting one is called curcumin, and this extract is being examined closer.

Turmeric is also believed to be anti inflammatory, an important point as some say inflammation occurs before the onset of type 2 diabetes.

Those that I found concerning turmeric did mention some facts like lessening the chances of getting type 2 diabetes and in reducing inflammation in obese people.

But, when you look a little closer you notice that the study was carried out in mice, a common method of testing cause and effect. Hardly convincing where humans are concerned then but an obvious next step is studies on humans.

However, the study did conclude that as a form of natural therapy, taking a supplement with turmeric was a safe way of complementing more traditional methods of treating diabetes.
